God was so angry with the Israelites who came out of Egypt and would not follow His direction to enter the Promised Land despite the many miracles they had seen, He decided not to allow them to enter at all. Caleb and Joshua were the exceptions.

The lesson here is that God is looking to use and promote men and women who have the courage to believe in Him and act in faith when He directs them to, regardless of the circumstances or risk.
