I did a lot of online research and learned two things: 1) Yearly boosters for cats are unnecessary according to a lone wolf vet who did her own studies; and 2) The pet food industry is not regulated, and some cheap brands use the cheapest fillers, including GMO corn and slaughterhouse scraps. Our new house kittens arrived with their first-year vaccines but will never get booster shots, and now we carefully check the ingredients on pet food labels like we do on our own food.

It all makes sense now. Despite amazing advances in productivity over the past few decades due to technology, middle class Americans get poorer and poorer. Older folks in their 60s can't afford to retire and young people are enslaved with college loan debt. Home prices and rents have risen many times faster than incomes in the past 20 years. There's a lot of good reasons to go vegan. Our meat and dairy supply is tainted with hormones, antibiotics, and vaccines. A recent study reportedly found avian contraceptives in fast food chicken sandwiches. We stopped dining out years ago and eat very well on a diet of all organic fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, pasta, and pasture raised eggs.
