Same! I put diatomaceous earth in my filter also. I don't use any of the chemicals they tell you to use. Our pool stays crystal clear 😊

I only use food grade. There are pool grades. I just prefer to use food grade considering.
I only put it in the filter after backwashing/rinse. I also use baking soda for pH.
