My husband and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to our kitchen smoke alarm. That POS has pushed me to my limits-more times than I care to count.

It goes off if I so much as turn on our oven, sending my dog into panic mode-piercing my eardrums to withered nubs of nothing.

The only time it didn't go off was when we needed it to a few weeks ago-rain had caused a backdraft in our wood stove-we didn't know until we heard our poor dog crawling behind our couch.

I was making green beans and something inside me snapped. I grabbed a spatula and beat that thing to a bloody pulp.

It's in broken pieces on the kitchen floor, awaiting my husband's return home.
