My fren in Florida, @qakelady , feels the same way. She's losing her business after YEARS of hard work building it up... My husband left his job of 13 years at AUSTAL, a shipyard in Mobile, AL, to take another pipefitting job at a small privately-owned metal fabrication company. Pay cut of $600/month, no sick pay, no vacation, no holidays... But at least they have insurance, safety bonuses & attendance bonuses.

I'm in the same boat, but luckier, since I have pigs (future bacon on legs) and a good veggie garden that's starting to produce now. @qakelady lives in a high-rise apartment with ZERO space for even a planter full of salad greens!

Well, it's not about waking more people up.

So I just keep working in my garden & for entertainment, I feed unsalted roasted peanuts in the shell to my pigs.

With 3 adults & 4 babies, we're good for pork for the foreseeable future... and Mama is having more babies around July 12 or 13.
