I believe it's time to restructure the social security system. Senior citizens need a major increase in $$$. This can be done using the confiscated $ from corrupt politicians who've used their office to get rich with insider trading, $laundering, etc. #PresidentTrump

They will be getting the most returned to them and sooner because they have been ripped off the longest amount of time.

Yes, Frank redo.
I think SS was calculated on amount you had taken out determined amount you get.
So for 50 years' work, if your salary was always low, your SS check will be low.
But there are several considerations, like what if your employer cheated you by claiming you were paid less than your real salary? That could add up to a lot of money.
What if you worked for your husband or wife and you didn't take a salary as per an agreement with your spouse?
What if your job was set up as barter?
Like you got your rent paid if you did maintenance for the apartments where you lived?
What if you were a caretaker for a loved one for years for no pay except for a promise of a small inheritance?
Some people began working at ages even younger than eleven so what if you worked for more than 50 years and the IRS, State, SS, etc., took your money all those years?
Well, that's probably a small list of "what ifs".
Who did the calculations favor?
Probably not the people.

Hell, all the $ needed for this would come from those exorbitant $amts for congressional pensions. Eradicate those large pensions, audit everyone of them. Serve one term and their pension is more than what you and I could accrue in ten years. Greed is the god of most of those on criminal Hill in the district of criminals. I say hit 'em where it hurts; and oh, no grandfather clauses. They get those pensions on top of all the $$$$$ they scammed from insider training, kickbacks from foreign aid, etc. introduce term limits. And another thing, I volunteer my carpentry skills to build the gallows on criminal Hill should that day come. Tired of the constant lying rhetoric of most of our so-called elected officials. Someone share this with #Trump .

Yes, absolutely the Social Security system is a scam. It should never be taxed for one thing. Cost of living "increases" never cover the inflation, and the cost of the mandatory Medicare goes up every year. If an older person continues to work, they are penalized with the ridiculous IRMAA deduction if they earn " too much" based on what Social Security deems "too much." The whole program needs to be revamped, or eliminated. Perhaps those on Social Security should get a nice big check that we can then invest ourselves to provide for our needs without the taxation and restrictive "rules." 😇

Hear, hear! The last increase netted me $1.63 more a month AFTER the Medicare premium increase and the Medicare Part D Rx premium increase were deducted! This is NOT right!

Retired Seniors on Social Security (I don't receive it yet) have suffered terribly.

A several times-x immediate increase in monthly Social Security payments would be so great for them and is really needed.

Most of their fixed incomes off Social Security was insufficient to live before Bidenflation kicked in. Now the situation is untenable.
Far too many seniors rely only on that tiny deposit for just buying food, and it's never enough. Many seniors are malnourished.
Can't keep up with rising costs of everything, and many cannot go out and work.

Every time I see a Senior out working a cash register or whatever, I'm infuriated, because they shouldn't have to work (unless they want to) and should be enjoying their Golden Years in perfect health and spending quality time with family and our younger generations to teach them something.

So much beautiful experience there meant to be shared. They deserve a BREAK so they can LIVE.

ol_cowbay,
You wrote: "our younger generations- to teach them something.

That's it -
My own daily struggle having no dough, rotten health, and stress due to -EVERYTHING - prevents me from sharing the wealth of my life experience.
Not only do we need redo on SS, but I'm thinking now, I'd like reparations due to everything that has contributed to them killing of me slowly and making me suffer so much.
(It's just a thought.)
But when you write Universal High Universal Income, I know you're compassionate, and want to give us hope, but unless there are remedies NOW or very soon, we won't make to that wonderful day.
So, a prayer, "Please God, take seniors' suffering away and for the rest of our earthly years, give us long, fruitful, productive, happy lives."
