I believe it's time to restructure the social security system. Senior citizens need a major increase in $$$. This can be done using the confiscated $ from corrupt politicians who've used their office to get rich with insider trading, $laundering, etc. #PresidentTrump

Yes, Frank redo.
I think SS was calculated on amount you had taken out determined amount you get.
So for 50 years' work, if your salary was always low, your SS check will be low.
But there are several considerations, like what if your employer cheated you by claiming you were paid less than your real salary? That could add up to a lot of money.
What if you worked for your husband or wife and you didn't take a salary as per an agreement with your spouse?
What if your job was set up as barter?
Like you got your rent paid if you did maintenance for the apartments where you lived?
What if you were a caretaker for a loved one for years for no pay except for a promise of a small inheritance?
Some people began working at ages even younger than eleven so what if you worked for more than 50 years and the IRS, State, SS, etc., took your money all those years?
Well, that's probably a small list of "what ifs".
Who did the calculations favor?
Probably not the people.
