We have sacrifices that we need to make too, as we choose to follow Christ. There are many worldly activities we have to give up, as they are not in line with what God has ordained us to do. Sometimes we have to leave certain friendships or relationships because they end up trying to pull us away from Christ. The joy in these sacrifices is that God always acknowledges them and they won't go unrewarded.

Dear God, I acknowledge that there are things in my life that I may have to let go of as a result of my choosing to follow Your way. Lord, I ask that You give me the strength I need to be able to let go, and amy You comfort me in any time I feel pain. You have been teaching me that understanding will never bring me Peace. Your Word instructs me to trust in You with all my heart instead of relying on my own understanding. This verse challenges me every day of my life.

I confess that I have a voracious appetite for trying to figure things out--attempting to gain a sense of mastery over my life. But the world presents me with an endless series of problems. As soon as I master one set of difficulties, another set rises up and unsettles me. Soon my mind is gearing up again--striving for understanding and mastery instead of seeking You, my Master. Please forgive me, Lord, and help me to seek You above all else.

When you are plagued by a persistant problem--one that goes on and on--view it as a rich opportunity. An ongoing problem is like a tutor who is always by your side. The learning possibilities are limited only by your willingness to be teachable. In faith, thank Me for your problem. Ask Me to open your eyes and your heart to all that I am accomplishing through this difficulty. Once you have become grateful for a problem, it loses its power to drag you down. On the contrary, your thankful attitude will lift you up into heavenly places with Me. From this perspective, your difficulty can be seen as a slight, temporary distress that is producing for you a transcendent Glory never to cease!
