A PRAYER TO RECEIVE GOD'S FREE GIFT

Jesus, thank You for becoming "God with us." Thank You for taking the brokenness of the world off of our shoulders. It's because of Your selfless sacrifice that I can now experience eternal life with You. Today, I receive Your free gift of salvation, and I invite You to heal me. I want to spend the rest of my life becoming more like You. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR CHILDLIKE FAITH

God, You are worthy of all my worship! Thank You for being a safe place for me to run to. Thank You for being my source of strength and help when I am in trouble. Draw me closer to You. Teach me how to approach You with a childlike heart by confidently trusting You with my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

God, You know that I need You. I'm sorry for all the times I've pretended that I'm fine on my own. Please forgive me. PLANT GENEROUSLY

In his second letter to the believers in Corinth, Greece, the apostle Paul expressed his gratefulness for their commitment to generosity before challenging them with this statement:

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." 2 Corinthians 9:6 NIV

Paul knew that God had established some common-sense principles when it came to generosity. All throughout Scripture, we see both natural and spiritual implications of this cycle.

Natural: If you plant a few seeds in the ground, you will reap a small harvest. If you plant hundreds or thousands of seed in the ground, you will reap a large harvest.

Spiritual: If you spend your time, money, talents, or energy investing in a friend, a stranger, a ministry, or the next generation, God can certainly multiply those efforts.

THE INNOCENTS

It's ironic that Herod, the Jewish king, orders the massacre of male children when it was the massacre of male Hebrew children that was the last straw in Egypt and led, finally, to the Exodus. Moses escaped the massacre in Egypt and established the Jews as a people and gave them the laws of the first covenant. Jesus escapes the massacre ordered by Herod and establishes God's kingdom on earth and gives us a new law of love for the new covenant.

God needs our eyes and ears to be aware of the needs of the innocents.

“Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.”

Delightful Lord,

I love listening in the song that You continually sing to me: "I take great delight in you, I renew you by My Love; I shout for Joy over you." The voices of this world are a cacophony of chaos, pulling me this way and that. Help me not to listen to those voices but to challenge them with Your Word. Show me how to take breaks from the noise of the world--finding a place to be still in Your Presence so I can hear Your voice.

I believe there is immense hidden treasure to be found through listening to You. You are always pouring out blessings upon me. but some of Your richest blessings have to be actively sought. I rejoice when You reveal Yourself to me--through Your Word, Your people, and the wonders of creation.

I am your Refuge and Strength, an ever-present Help in trouble. Therefore, you don't need to be afraid of anything--not even cataclysmic circumstances. The media are increasingly devoted to fear-inducing subject matter: terrorism, serial killers, environmental catastrophes. If you focus on such dangers and forget that I am your Refuge in all circumstances, you will become increasingly fearful. Every day I manifest My grace in countless places and situations, but the media take no notice I shower not only blessings but also outright miracles on your planet.

As you grow closer to Me, I open your eyes to see more and more of My Presence all around you. Things that most people hardly notice, like shifting shades of sunlight, fill you with heart-bursting Joy. You have eyes that see and ears that hear, so proclaim My abiding Presence in the world.
