Grand Evening Prayer-Thursday, February 12th, 2026

Heavenly Father, I am overwhelmed by the magnitude of the fact that your Spirit, the Holy Spirit, has counted my body worthy to dwell in. Father, I will never stop thanking You because my body has been quickened. In times of illness, I am healed. When my heart aches, I am relieved. When I require strength, I am empowered. It is all because of You, God. It is all because of You, and for this I truly am grateful. Amen.

The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, after everything He endured, is the same Spirit that resides in us, Christians. It was the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, that gave Jesus Christ's body the power to rise from death after the mighty battle He endured. Think of the power that dwells in you! You have no reason to fear any hint of death or destruction because the Spirit of the Living God dwells in you.

STRENGTH IN EVERY SEASON

Philippians 4:13 is a popular Bible verse that you may have seen posted on coffee mugs, social media, or even cars. Maybe you've heard someone recite this verse before a sporting event or while trying to accomplish a difficult task.

Unfortunately, this verse is often misunderstood. This verse is not saying that we can accomplish whatever we want. Paul isn't talking about winning a football game or having the courage to do something daring.

Instead, Paul is actually talking about his time in prison. He is referencing the power of God that was with him during this difficult time of ministry.

In Philippians 4:12 he talks about the power he has to live content in every situation in life. He learned how to live with abundance and with nothing. He learned how to live with very little food and resources, and also with abundant food and resources.

DO NOT BOAST

The Book of Proverbs makes for interesting reading. This passage makes me think of the sayings, "Pride comes before a fall," and "Don't toot your own horn." "The bigger they are, the harder they fall." Fame today may not be permanent and just because one has succeeded in one endeavor does not mean that one will be successful in everything. No one can predict what the future will bring, and that can mean further success or failure. There is much happiness for some people when they see a person fail. This is especially true if the person holds a high position or is in a profession that is considered to be held to a higher standard. Athletes, entertainers as well as politicians, teachers, ministers, etc. fall into this category. Gossip magazines as well as television programs that pass themselves off as current "news" thrive on this.

Paul sent one of his men to the church of Ephesus so that the church would be aware of Paul's plans and activities, and so that the church could be encouraged. We should follow Paul's example of transparency, never being afraid to let people know our actions, our intent, and our plans. Wherever we go, we should also seek to encourage those we come into contact with.
