Devotional-You Version-Friday, April 18th, 2025

NO GREATER LOVE

There is no greater love than the love Jesus shoed when He laid down His life--for His friends. For us.

Jesus wasn't just a good man who died an unjust death. He was the spotless Son of God--sinless, blameless, holy. Death had no rightful claim on Him. And yet, He willingly embraced it. He gave up His life so that others might have eternal life.

That alone would be enough to leave us in awe. But what makes His sacrifice even more astounding are the people He died for.

A PRAYER TO STAY ROOTED IN LOVE

Jesus, please teach me how to be kind and selfless. Help me to show how much I love You by loving others the way You've asked me to. Remove bitterness, pettiness, and selfishness from me. Root my life in Your love so that only loving actions become the fruit of my life. Amen.

SHARE YOUR FAITH

Jesus laid down His life for everyone. On this Good Friday, let's remember that by telling someone who needs His mercy and grace. Who are the friends in your life who Jesus gave His life for that still don't know about His sacrifice?

HONOR GOD

While you were unworthy of God's love, Christ died for you.

Spend some time praising God for the relationship you have with Him because of His sacrificial love.

CONCERNS

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Hebrews 4:16 KJV

Imagine God is standing in front of you with His arms wide open. What do you do? What does God do for you?

Think about this for a few moments, and when you're ready, bring your requests to God.

A PRAYER OF AMAZEMENT

God, I am amazed that You delight in me! Thank You for seeing me not for my imperfections, but as Your child who delights in You. Help me to never lose focus on You. Your guidance, and Your love. I want You to be the most important part of my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

A PRAYER FOR MY FRIENDS

God, thank You that I don't have to go through life alone. I'm grateful You created us to depend on one another and share our life experiences with others. Community is Your design, and I pray that I won't take it for granted. Help me to love and serve my friends well. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

GOD'S WILL

Father God, today I want to focus on You alone. Please show me what it means to delight in You and do Your will. Deepen my love for You so that my desire to obey You grows stronger. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Faith in God and love for God naturally go with joy of spirit. Christians will have troubles in life like anyone else and my even be persecuted for their faith, but there is still a deep, inner joy that nothing can destroy. It is the joy of knowing that we belong to God as his children, that He is ever watching over us for good, and that we will spend eternity in His presence.

LOOK TO ME AS YOUR JOYFUL FOCUS. You were made for Joy, and I am the boundless, overflowing Source of delight in your life.

I never run out of anything because I am infinite. If you draw too much from other pleasures, they will eventually let you down. The nature of addiction is that you need more and more of a substance to get the same effect as before. This is a self-destructive trap. However, the more you make Me your Focus, the less dependent you are on other things. You can still enjoy the good gifts I provide, but you don't need to grasp onto them, trying to milk every possible bit of pleasure from them.

What price do I place on Jesus' head? For Judas it was thirty pieces of silver. I know you're thinking, "Not me!" Stop and think: when was the last time you chose your needs over that of your family? I'm sure you know people just as I do, whose pay check is not always spent on food, rent or mortgage. These are people who gamble, drink, use drugs, of other forms of entertainment and was the monies that should be used for their families. This is the price that they place on Jesus' head.

Let us have respect to Your Word, O Lord, and not so much to the men who preach or teach it. If we see a Christian living a holy example and teaching us the great truths found in Your Book, let us not distrust him because of his youth but rejoice in what God is doing him. Let us also be quick to learn from the benefit from such a minister of the Gospel. Amen.
