With spring break coming up in a few weeks we need to be aware of what is happening on and around our beaches.

Over the weekend there were two violent attacks on Florida beaches.

One involved a 13-year-old boy walking with his family near the Daytona boardwalk, and a complete stranger walked up behind him slashed his throat with a knife. Stranger was also a drug addicted sex offender with an extensive criminal history.

The boy received 13 stitches across his throat, and the attacker was arrested shortly thereafter.

The other involved a woman who went to walk on Tiger Shores Beach around 11pm to "clear her head."

She saw a man coming towards her, five minutes after passing him, he attacked her from behind.

He grabbed her hair, threw her in the water and tried to strangle her with her head under water and with his full body weight on her head.
