That’s the way God made us; with our heads upward, and the ambition of our souls heavenward, looking toward God’s Son. And these flowers so colorful, and so beautiful, and so fragrant, and so attractive, God’s blessing and gift to the world, to enrich our souls and our lives: and thus it is, God says, with the Christian. He is to exemplify, in a beautiful and glorious life, all of the graces that God hath bestowed upon the flowers of the field. Other people worried, other people anxious, other people full of care; not the beautiful life of a Christian. “Consider the lilies of the field: they toil not, they spin not, yet I say unto thee, Solomon in all of his glory was not arrayed like one of these” [Matthew 6:29]. The beautiful life of the child of God, looking in faith to the Son, blessing the whole world.

Did you ever see a plant in the basement? Wherever it is placed, it will try to reach toward the window. Ever see a plant in a dark place? It will always try to reach upward toward the sun. Ever see a sunflower in the morning, bowing its head toward the east, and then following the sun all through the day, and then bowing its head finally toward the west? Something on the inside of that flower, something that God put in it makes it reach upward and heavenward. All of God’s creation is like that!

Now, everybody grows up in different family circumstances. Some are born into nuclear families, some are raised in situations of brokenness, and others are welcomed into adoptive families. Regardless of how or where we grew up, God calls us to love those who raised us.

That may be a hard thing to do. Sometimes a family member seems like our greatest enemy because of how they've hurt us. But even in that, Jesus encourages us to love our enemies and pray for them.

While learning to love those who are closest to us may be one of the most difficult things we do, it is also one of the most life-changing. It increases our capacity to see and love others, as well as honor God with our life. Consider how you can take steps today to better love those God has placed in your life.

The answer to that question is simple: we DON'T deserve this scorn. In these verses in the book of Titus, Christ's followers are given simple lists of instructions on how to live faithfully: avoid ungodliness and worldly lusts, live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present world. OK, simple enough. The verse that really stood out to me, especially when considering our present situation, is the final one.

🙏❤️🤗🕊️I am not assuming any of this is God's mistake, at all. I put my trust and faith in Him alone. He knows all and He sees all. He is not at fault for any of what is happening. He never has been. I have never felt that way. Just so you know where I stand on this. I am letting you know. I have lost both my parents, a sister, a niece, a nephew, a great nephew, and many others and I have never blamed him for their deaths. Even though I lost my dad when I was a senior in high school.
