The elders say

I Am the Bear

I do not rush.
The world can wait.

I was born from seasons,
from snow that remembers footsteps,
from fire that teaches when to rest.
My strength is not loud.
It is patient.

I stand where fear slows down.
Where breath becomes honest.
Those who meet my eyes feel it
the weight of being seen without judgment.

I carry the dark the way earth carries roots.
Not to hide them,
but to hold them steady.

When anger comes, I do not chase it away.
I let it pass through my chest
until it learns its true name:
Grief is asking to be protected.

I know when to fight.
I know when to sleep.
That knowing is my power.

The ancestors speak to me in long silences.
In caves.
In winter.
In the moments when the heart stops pretending to be small.

If you feel drawn to me,
It is not because you need more strength.

Being lost in thought, thinking about things to do, what’s been done, what could have been done… is not only tiring but also a brilliant way to waste energy. It diminishes your peacefulness and clouds your clarity. Every time you become lost in thought it means exactly that – you are lost!

To find yourself, allow your mind to become quiet, to become utterly tranquil.

In the quiet depths of every being, there is a stillness that contains a deep inner peace and wisdom that can guide you in your life.

My Prayer...
Holy and Righteous Father, God Almighty, I confess that your Son is my Savior and Lord, Jesus the Christ. I thank you, Jesus, for being my Lord and paying the price for my sins. I ask, blessed Holy Spirit, that you fashion more of Jesus' character and compassion in my life as I pursue him in my daily life and in the Scriptures. In Jesus' name, I ask you for this grace, and I ask for this blessing. Amen.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Law couldn't do it. Sacrifices couldn't do it. Piety couldn't achieve it. Religious practices couldn't make it happen. Only Jesus could bring complete salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and eternal life. Only Jesus can make us fully righteous and holy. Forgiveness and righteousness come through him, and faith in him. Jesus is God's most complete revelation of himself and his grace, and the sacrifice he made for our sins brings us forgiveness and eternal life (John 1:1-18; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1 John 2:2, 4:10).
