Had I known THEN what we all know NOW, I'd like to believe I could have saved my parents instead of watching them die on a Zoom call. That was April 2020, and I think most people suspected COVID was a scam, but it still made no since that we weren't allowed into the nursing home or the hospital. They had gowns, gloves and masks. BUT, now we know that elderly were killed so the hospitals would get paid. And they did.
We've come a long way in our understanding of COVID since 2020. I know people will still need to go to hospitals. Sometimes it's just unavoidable. I'll say this; if you have a loved one that has to be admitted, DO NOT leave their side even for a minute. DON"T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. Scream, yell, get your phone out and start reading badge names OUTLOUD. Had I not made such a scene, they were prepared to call security and have me escorted out of the ER, and he would have been admitted and dead within 12-24 hours. No doubt. That's the system we're dealing with right now.

I'm guessing that was their protocol because they wouldn't tell me. They did say he needed to be on a breathing machine, but I'm assuming what they really meant was a ventilator. That's exactly what they did to my dad in April 2020 and we had no control over that situation at all because it was the nursing home that had him admitted. Same hospital got my mom from the nursing home 2 weeks later with COVID. Same thing: no visitors were allowed at the nursing home OR the hospital, not even to be with them when they died. No autopsy, no funeral, no embalming. Hell, I don't even know if either of them was in the casket. I just assume they were. Then It was just a short graveside service and that was it. No good byes, no nothing. Never AGAIN.
