Mandating vaccines for the military is literally as old as America. On 1/6/1777 General Washington ordered a mandatory vaccination of American Troops with a fairly gritty smallpox vaccine, as we were losing more soldiers to smallpox than British bullets at the time. Its success became a big part of our winning the war of independence.
