I grew up Catholic, went to a Catholic grade school and since I've been awake, I cannot do those rituals anymore. I haven't been to church in over a year. I don't need it. Religion is man made. I never resonated with the Creed etc and now I know why. Asking a priest to resolve my sins was another thing I always thought was weird. I just go directly to God. It will be interesting to saw what churches will be like in the future.

I don't understand this ash ritual. I asked some in the church I was fellowshipping with why do we do this? No one had an answer. Back when, to get into the market place one had to make a burnt offering to Caesar and prove it with ash on the head or wrist.

Faith lived in fear is not faith. Faith and fear cannot coexist.
I feel a revival of the Latin Rite happening! It's my mass of preference where reverence for all that is sacred exists, especially reception of the Eucharist on the the tongue and ashes are given on the forhead in remembrance from whence we came and whence you shall return. What we do in between that time is a gift, that's why its called the present. God brings good out of every evil and I believe faith and reverence for the sacred will return to glorify God and return America to its Christian values.🙏

It's actually biblical, as ashes were used as a sign of sorrow and mourning, being cast either on the head or on the body clothed with sackcloth.
BUT done as a ritual it's just religion. Also, we live in different times and don't have the same cultural background.
And not to forget that Jesus' ministry was that of:
*To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; ~Isaiah 61: 3~*
So to mourn as a ritual is completely unbiblical!

I was brought up Catholic. Never felt it was right. Got ashes once when I was young. They wanted you to kiss the feet of Jesus on the cross. Nope didn't feel right. Then you have to get confirmed and when the bishop comes you have to kiss his ring. Nope , nada I was 13 then. I stopped going and put my trust in the Lord. I never raised my children this way.
