Have you seen the clip of Dean Martin drunk on the Johnny Carsen show? Bob Hope was sitting next to him and they asked Dean what he was going to get Frank Sinatra for his birthday. Down the rabbit hole I go. Bob Hope, Kissinger, Sinatra, Sammy, Lawford... all happy co-minglers in Palm Springs. What we thought was just a regular boy's club of "drinking and dames" was nothing of the sort. Hope was joined at the hip wtih the USO, so mind control makes sense.
