I’m sitting pretty high on my pity pot tonight… I will apologize now… all of this occurred while I was full time state employee…
I have lived with my elderly parents for 20 years to help them out… 6 years ago both of them went down on their health issues with my dad having quadruple bypass copd/ emphysema and Parkinson’s with dementia… only a few weeks after dad had the heart surgery, my mom coded 2x on the way to the hospital in the ambulance and ended up having a pacemaker installed… 3-4 stage renal failure and chf…. Mom rebounded pretty good… but dad continued to decline and dementia started showing more… 3 years ago he fell and end up having a total hip replacement and had to be placed in a murder home… he lived 1 year… he was also double vaxxed with moderna… mom had done pretty well up until 6 months ago… I decided to retire early in April… I only got 1 week and mom ended up in the hospital, totally independent walking around the house and continent of her bathroom skills.

The drs told us we should put her on hospice to go home, she was no longer able to walk, period… and incontinent of her bathroom skills… my 2 siblings and I agreed to move in to care for her with hospice… so far my brother took entire month of July off to go home and the last 8 days in OKC to spend time with his wife, my sister is gone 2-4 days at a time 2-3 times a month. I have only been able to get away 2x for a total of 7 days!!! Am I the A$$HOLE for being upset about this?! I can’t even take time for my own health issues!!

I forgot to mention that mom has Alzheimer’s dementia now too… some days we call her 10 second Tom(from the movie 50 first dates)… having to tell her sometimes multiple times a day that dad died 2 years ago… that’s a lot of fun … 😞😞 and remind her she is no longer able to walk or even stand! She tries getting out of bed or her recliner all the time… we are only able to move her around with the aide of a hoyer lift. She’s eventually (I’m afraid) going to fall and break something….

Not at all… you are doing so much and it sounds like there is an overabundance of stress. I am hoping you find some way to care for yourself with zero guilt. Everyone else’s opinion about how you handle any of this can just wait out on the doorstep till it flies away. 💞💞💞
