I think President/CIC Trump, himself, has been on the "Defense" for a decade and America has been on the "Defense" for far too long.
Renaming The Department of Defense to The Department of War is his way of saying we are moving to the Offense.
I also believe, as President and Commander-In-Chief, when he says "I" it should be inferred as The United States, since the President represents "We The People" and the Commander-In-Chief commands the Department of War.

It's astonishing to read and listen to some folks' critique of POTUS. He either does this or that in a way that would be better IF. Yet their own reasoning lacks substance that would indicate a viable critique. Often sounding off perhaps due to just not liking POTUS. Everyone in our country has the freedom to agree or disagree with political activities. As of the past 10 years, I have been a lot more engaged in the activities than ever before. Why? I witnessed the insane reactions of the media, the democrats, the republicans, his so-called friends and foes - it was mind bending. It being my nature to back the outcast - I was behind DJT from the beginning. Stuck with him through it all. Despite the arrows and darts coming at POTUS - he stands taller and stronger than any of the naysayers. So I am standing by him - listening to him - usually in agreement with him. When not, I simply wait for a bit. In the end - he is right. His hat - "Trump was right about everything".

Kat, the sad & perfect example of affect of a name...changing the name to "DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE" in 1949...took place immediately as Truman implemented the wholesale destruction (scrapping) of our WW2 Arms Inventory, refusing re-enlistments of Combat-Experienced US Soldiers, and put our Warriors completely in harms way with one or both hands tied behind their backs and under-protected, under-resourced during THE KOREAN WAR (1950) - deemed a "UN policing action" & more of the same virtually every conflict after that (until CIC Trump fully unleashed the Military on the Cabal).

General MacArthur achieved amazing victories in Korea against tremendous odds, but was fired by Truman, because HE KNEW that we had been backed into that corner by Truman's skulduggery. China would have never invaded Korea if we hadn't been so weakened.
