Monsters, Inc. came out in 2001. Monsters University, the next movie, came out in 2013. My awakening was in 2020, during the shutdown. I had no clue what the theme of the Monster's, Inc. meant back then. It sickens me now and angers me that most, if not all, of our favorite kids' movies are tainted. And, though not my fault, sometimes I wanna kick myself for not having the intuition back then. But I give myself grace for not knowing what I couldn't have known back then. I taught one of these children. The parents were here illegally and left their firstborn with the grandmother in Mexico. The traffickers kidnapped him from his grandmother and dropped him off in California. The parents picked him up there and paid the traffickers. The child didn't know his parents. He refused to learn and hated his parents and this country because he didn't belong. One of the needs of all humans is to feel a sense of belonging. It's even worse for the ones who are trafficked.
