When I worked at CCDC a man donated reading glasses for the inmates as a donations. The powers that be in the medical department was charging the inmates for the glasses only if they had the money to pay for them. They were cheap, $4-5, but some inmates do not have anyone putting money on their books. No heat in the winter, and no AC in the summer. When I passed out Meds I had to wear a coat in the winter, and I could always see my breath.
Oh, by the way, their Sally Ports where the guards sit are heated.
I won't even start on the food.
I understand they are there for punishment, but this cruel and unusual punishment in some of these facilities.
