If told by Authorities to EVACUATE, i would do so immediately. That's just me.
Lollygagging to collect personal possessions can be deadly in the event of wildfire. The super-heated winds can burn lungs in one inhale, before flames even arrive. Don't take chances.
Always best to prepare in advance: organize a "bugout" bag (duffle/backpack) with food, water, clothing, shelter, sleeping bag, personal self-defense, flashlights, important documents, cherished small possessions/photos, and also spare fuel for your car stored in a safe, approved container. (5 gallons might get you an extra 100 miles or more.)
