There can come that moment when you grab your family, grab a few precious memories, pets, and valuables IF one planned ahead IF there is any time, and get out of harms way as fast as possible. Being able to do that takes planning ahead, like having Bugout Bags with food & water, necessities & shelter ready.
What would we take with us if we had only 30 seconds to get out of our homes? It's a good idea to think about it and plan ahead for such a scenario and be ready, just in case.
Homes can be rebuilt.
Just like a forest fire, sometimes there's only time to jump in the car and drive like heck, or just to climb to higher ground.
Be prepared America.
Don't wait 'till the last minute.

I agree
It's always best to stay put where all your supplies are UNTIL something like this heads your way
We are fortunate enough to have a travel trailer with generator and surplus fuel parked 15 miles from our house. It's loaded with survival food packs, ammo, medical etc.
We have a relative 4hrs away that lives on top a mountain in New Mexico. He has always been off the grid. Our goal would be get there as fast as possible. Plan B is a spot at a lake 1 hr away.
You have got to be prepared and we have had plenty of time to do so.During covid lock down I studied and got a hamm radio license ( don't need it in an emergency) got a couple of radios tuned them to several repeaters so if the comm go down I can still communicate with that set of people - some of them can talk all over the World 🌎
Also have GMRS radios for vehicle to vehicle.
Hope it never comes to this but as a baby boomer Eagle scout with a dad that was a gunsmith -an Olympic silver medalist gunsmith

What I was sayin' too is that when this kind of danger is incoming, like floods or wildfires, be ready and prepared to bug out just like you are sayin'. Don't wait 'till the last minute to grab emergency bugout supplies and precious momentos, because one might not have time to grab things otherwise and still live.
Sometimes people die in wildfires that consume their home cuz they wait too long trying to gather things as the fire bears down, and one breath of that hot air in front of the fire can be lethal.
Same with floods, when that water is rising or the warning goes out, be ready to get to higher ground and move like the wind, don't lollygag.
Homes can be rebuilt. Property can be replaced. Lives can't - so everyone be prepared to race to safety and that means preparing in advance.
