This event was *huge* though of course nothing ultimately ever came of it but the eventual firing, blacklisting, and murder of the journalist who's article, (Gary Webb - Dark Alliance), published in '96 in the San Jose Mercury, first broke the story nationwide. But enough heat and ire was generated that CIA director Deutsch actually had to *in person* sit in front of a massive crowd of very angry LA Compton residents (Maxie Water's district - 'surprise') and let them scream at him.
Ruppert's role was abit sketchy and he went on to live a number of years involving himself in the 'peak oil' hoax.
