This was really well written, thank you for posting. I believe you hit the nail on the head. Most of the chaos, division, and conflict over the past few years certainly boils down to a lack of love. I know some folks on here are apprehensive about the Bible, but i think this verse is scarily applicable to the current state of the world:
Matthew 24:12–13 (NIV): 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
A lack of love got the world into this mess, love is what gets us through
