I can't post this image for some reason, but here is a link to the image that shows the ALICE Experiment.
ALICE is described as a Large Ion Collider, and it looks like it focuses a beam on a wall, near area PMD. Also a bunch of sensors and magnets and filters, and I'm sure a control room filled with supercomputers running AI to operate the machine and observe the data.

You would also have a handshake between Stargates, and that would be the best, and maybe only, way to transport matter instantaneously across Space, while retaining it's "shape" at the exit, if we had such an option.

hmm, it could mean probably mean a few different things.
A handshake is when 2 different things connect.
One sends out a message, like the control room to the machine, and then if the machine receives that message, and everything is good on it's end, it sends a message back, which completes the handshake.
