Hi! Good morning everyone. Can i get tips for managing PTSD? Im doing all the things, but mornings and nights are the worst. My therapist is pushing Lexapro, but my history with antidepressants is they dont work for me. i live in FL and have an MMJ card, but feel like it makes me more tearful. Any advice would be most welcome. i don't have a local support system and im really struggling. tia

Look at everything in your life; your diet, habits, and especially your triggers. Write down what your triggers are and know them. That might not stop a flashback or PTSD episode, but that will help.
Advice I received: Leave the environment where you were triggered. Say assuring things such as "I'm okay." I opening a window helps, do that. If wrapping yourself in a blanket does, do that. Know what helps and what doesn't. A simple trick is placing your right hand over your heart and your left on your abdomen and saying to yourself, "I love you." Tell yourself that multiple times a day, especially before bedtime.
Touch therapy has shown to have great success, but you would need someone skilled in that whom you can trust.
Set everything in your environment and life up for success. Thinking of yourself as a victim is not helpful. Empower yourself.

I have PTSD as well. Mostly controlled, but it can always rear its ugly head if triggered. The coping skills help. Blessings, Access Denied. 💙
