There simply is, imho, no right or wrong way to pray.
Just spend time with God.
You are actually a fractal of God, the part of you that makes that Earth suit work your soul is an eternal piece of God Himself.
Therefore, you can connect DIRECTLY with God.
Connecting with God does not require a priest, nor any book, nor anything else, JUST YOU AND God!
That is all it takes.
Connect to God realizing that you are already a part of Him.
This Earth suit is a temporary assignment. There are many other suits available, many other species in the universe, the ALL that IS, and they have soul sparks of God too.ISB
You came here for a purpose, was it as a warrior to assist in the most amazing time in human history, the greatest story ever told, to ascend a planet while the inhabitants are still on it for the 1st time ever, or for personal enlightenment & soul growth.
