The Amish are not allowed to fight back or appear in court so they usually lose their land without a fight. It's against their beliefs to be part of regular society. Knew a lady that married into it and she didn't want to keep having child after child (she said the children weren't treated well, more like slaves) so she decided to divorce him and he couldn't show up for court so she got the 300 acre farm with everything. 300 head of cows, chickens, pigs, everything. An easy way for them to steal land.
