I've proved this to myself on fairly minor wounds of my own but I first heard about it from a naturopath who'd been treating a woman with cervical cancer. The tumor finally coalesced in on itself and broke loose while she was in the tub causing massive hemorrhaging. She'd have likely bled out in 20 minutes or so but he got there in time and the cayenne stopped it within a couple minutes.
