In a nutshell... Group of elites have been using scummy techniques to make fortunes off the stock market, legally, but by shorting stocks which is frowned upon as playing dirty. But now a group of "angry, barely working, spiteful millennials" out smarted them at their own game and cost them HUGE MONEY. Now the elites are running thru the news cycle threatening everything imaginable and accusing them of crimes, when the elites have been doing the same thing for decades.
