🔼 When the CIA was established in 1947, its intended role was to function as an intelligence-gathering agency.
But what did it become? It evolved into an elitist espionage apparatus… whose leadership became dominated by a network of Wall Street lawyers and bankers. They were a rogue operation. They did what they wanted…whenever they wanted. They were lawless.
President John F. Kennedy knew he had to come up with another way to get this rogue operation under order — especially as it related to their PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATIONS. Under NSAM-55, Kennedy gave the military the authority to demand full and comprehensive briefings and an inside role during the development of any clandestine operation in which the U.S. Government might become involved!
