most of us cannot afford a steak or even chuck hamburg which is not 7.99 a pound now. the cheapest beef, steaks range from 23 to 48 bucks. really?? for 1,5 people minimally

Live local, is an idea for sustainable living. Buying the whole cow and having it dressed would fill a freezer.
Like going out hunting, there are so many feral hogs, there are deer, there's ways to save money feeding yourself.
Most ranchers would gladly sell you a cow or hog. Some ranchers will dress it out for you. Also sending it to slaughter at a packing plant. I know that makes people uneasy but God gave us cloven hooves to eat.
It would not be Cheap but it would work to save you money in the long run. if you can afford to do it could be the way to go.
Farmers have large fields sometimes have (you pick) events is also a way to save on vegetables.

where i am veggies are higher locally than at the store. i look at the bar codes from where they came from. i will be buying a cow or half one after this event is over. i dont have a freezer and no room for one so a problem. not a big meat eater anyway.. as you can tell not sure what i am going to do. not a veg. either. ugh. i need a chef!!
