You're thinking that the Templars were 'good'? Did they start that way and were later infiltrated?
I genuinely can't tell from what I've read.
They've been tied in with the Essenes (Laurence Gardner). Multiple EU kings outlawed and killed them. The modern international banking system was created by them. The Jolly Roger flag of piracy is said to be Templar with symbolism attributed to the head of John the Baptist.
So much conflicting history.
