WOW — “If you ever wanna know why I voted for Donald Trump take a look at Western North Carolina. In 4 months, our past administration couldn’t do anything for these people..”

“In 2 days, President Trump has these people being transferred to fully furnished apartments!”

The evil bastards opened the floodgates before the hurricane arrived 😡

I have a video that proves it, but I can't post videos on AU anymore for some reason.

I live in Yancey county. I was without power for 22 days. I saw & am still seeing the devastation first hand. There was nothing that could be done from a human perspective to stop the flooding. No flood gate or dam was going to be able to stop the sheer magnitude of water coming off the mountains. You have to remember the mountains in NC and Tennessee are the tallest mountains on the east coast. Mount Mitchell, the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi is less than 10 miles from my home, as the crow flies. All the water funneled down the mountains into water ways that never handled that much water. I have a stream less than 4 feet wide going under my driveway. On Friday morning of the storm, that stream was over 75 feet wide, a raging river, totally washing over part of my driveway, just to give you an example of how much water came down the mountains.

Not just that, but as water moves downvalley it picks up rocks and literally churns them into sand which turns the water into a giant "water jet" with high pressure abrasives that literally cut deep paths through solid rock in the mountain valleys and anything in their path. A small intermittent stream can get cut down several stories deep and hundreds of yards wide, and every square yard adds more than a ton of rock that pulverizes into sand, increasing the devastation power. NOTHING survives that. THEN when the raging sand & rock filled waters hit a level spot they drop and deposit the million tons of sand, mud, rocks all at once packing people's homes and even filling the refrigerators with sand. Total devastation followed by MOLD that starts growing in surviving structures. If they aren't cleaned out, drywall+insulation ripped out fast, then they are condemned anyways due to black mold.
THAT'S WHAT MOUNTAIN FLOODS DO.
It requires a monumental rescue & relief response.

You are totally right. I did not even mention the mudslides that were more catastrophic then the flooding itself.

I got my power back 22 days after the storm. I am much better off than many around me. I am thankful my home was spared any damage.
