I’ve read books from the 1700 to 1800s they all talk about bitters, was that quinine water??

Bitters are the bitter herbs including dandelion and chicory leaves. Used to be able to buy a bottle of bitter tonic.

Quinine water may also be a bitter tonic. Most of these old remedies were some sort of anti-parasitic. Parasites cause the majority of diseases, along with malnutrition, and toxins.
