Sons of bitches. They send out letters threatening working citizens that they will file liens against their only assets to pay the damn taxes and here they are not paying taxes themselves! GET ALL OF THEM OUT!!! Thank you Kat!!

Some relatives of mine just received one of those threatening letters, mailed in a blank non-official IRS envelope, using collection-agency lingo not typical of the IRS, filled with doublespeak & confusing legalese saying on the one hand they have no way of calculating what is owed, but on the other hand that they will file anyways on my family member's behalf, and stating basically that they'll just make up a number.
That's more fraud committed. Based on the language and city it was sent from (not of a usual IRS Tax Filing location), it appears to be a cheap collections law-firm POSING as the IRS, not the IRS itself, and that's yet even another fraud.

Since it was sent in the mail, it could constitute Mail Fraud.

Since they are using fear and intimidation to coerce a civilian population, I'm thinking that might also constitute an act of terrorism.

Yes look into it, do NOT send money. I prepared tax returns for 20 years, they will send out letters ASSESSING what THEY THINK you might owe in taxes when they really have no idea unless you file the returns. One of my clients, retired state police officer, kept getting letters saying he owed over $15,000 and they were going to put a lien on his property if he didn't comply. Once the return was LEGALLY prepared THEY OWED HIM $75.00. Our state does the same thing. They are all money grabbers. I am glad the gov payroll will be whittled down to the very basics. It's way past time for it.
