Just empty a bag of cotton balls into some melted vaseline, let them dry and you have instant fire starters. 2 cotton balls coated in vaseline will burn up to ten minutes giving you plenty of time to start a fire. You can even get them wet and they still work. Throw a couple dozen in a baggie and carry them in your backpack, they don't weigh nothing, and they don't take up any space.
