Unfortunately, I found out that Irish Spring does not deter mice. As you can see they even chewed it.

Agreed!!

I thought it was going to work great.

I am still waiting to hear from the mower repair shop on the damage they caused my riding mower. In 4 days I have caught 4 mice in my shed and counting. I wish the “original” Irish Spring soap worked but those chewed bars proved it didn’t. 😣
Update: make that a total of 5 mice caught as of this morning.

I have not tried this - put some baking soda mixed with a little corn meal into a plastic container with a lid - put a hole so the mice can get in - they can not vomit - they bloat up & explode - I know it sounds awfully but your equipment is worth me...the corn meal is to grab their attention, the baking soda well you know
Also mice & spiders don't like peppermint oil

Thanks Connie.
That does sound gruesome.

I have found traditional mouse traps to be the most effective way to quickly kill the mice and stop them from wrecking havoc in my shed. In just 4 days I have caught 5 mice. I used to use poison but I can't risk any of the poisoned mice getting into my chicken coop and then being eaten by the chickens. I can quickly remove any dead mice.

If I used poison the mice could crawl away and hide in a spot to die a slow death. If I could not find them the shed would begin to stink of rotting mice. Yuck.

Another trick I have used (cause I don't like to remove mice from traps) get a 5 gallon pail - drill holes about 3" down from the top -to put a strong wire (coat hanger will do) thru one hole with a coke can then thru the other hole - put peanut butter on the can evenly so it rotates - put a stick on the side (mice travel in corners & edges) so the mice will climb up the stick to get to the peanut butter but fall into the pail....this does work - I put these in 4 of my buildings (one pail each)
