Unfortunately, I found out that Irish Spring does not deter mice. As you can see they even chewed it.

I have resorted to using traditional mouse traps. Four traps have eliminated 5 mice in just 4 days. I have tried different approaches but this is sadly the most affordable and reliable. The mice are so darn cute but extremely destructive.

Ours works fine. There are several kinds of Irish Spring, use the "Original"

I thought it was working fine too until the mice nested right below the bar of soap inside my riding mower. I placed a bar on top of the air vent on the engine and one under the mower. Those are the chewed bars pictured below of “original” Irish Spring. It has the same strong fragrance I remember from my childhood.

I thought it was going to work great.
I am still waiting to hear from the mower repair shop on the damage they caused my riding mower. In 4 days I have caught 4 mice in my shed and counting. I wish the “original” Irish Spring soap worked but those chewed bars proved it didn’t. 😣
Update: make that a total of 5 mice caught as of this morning.
