It reminds me of a story RFK, Jr. told
about his uncle, President Kennedy.

During President Kennedy’s time in the White House
he was surrounded by Military brass
who were CONSTANTLY exhorting him to go to war.
HE NEVER SENT A SINGLE COMBAT TROOP ABROAD.
He ended up sending 16k advisors to Vietnam.
A month before he died,
he heard that a Green Beret had died in Vietnam
& asked one of his aides to give him a casualty list.
The list had 75 Americans who died in Vietnam.
President Kennedy said, “That’s too much.”
That day he signed NSAM 263
that ordered every service person home from Vietnam.
He was assassinated a month later
& a week after his death that order was remanded.
LBJ sent 550k troops to Vietnam."

I'm with President Kennedy —
