I am not a doubting danny or one of THEM, but I sometimes have to play devil's advocate, in the non-satan version of the term.

As a photographer, that guy should know a single snapshot is literally a split-second in the history of time -- of that singular view. One shouldn't conclude too much from ONE photo. Maybe the lapel pin is bent-over, just out of view in this ONE photo.

His point about the lapel pin would be stronger if it were backed by a large array of photos that showed the lack of a lapel pin.
