😻 Yesterday I fell in the silliest accident
& ended up in Hospital because I couldn’t walk.
I’m peachy now, just a bad sprain.
The exciting thing was I got fitted with a Medical Boot!
They had NO IDEA how happy that made me
because I’ve been looking at Boots for years on the demons 😹
I don’t see how you can fit an ankle bracelet in this thing, though?!
I think the BOOT ITSELF is the GPS tracker?

Point is, THE MOMENT the ambulance came
I was asked, did I want FENTANYL?
No thank you, I said.
Asked again in the ambulance, FENTANYL?
No thanks.
Ketamine?
Nope.
Then @ Hospital, did I need FENTANYL?
NO!!
Good grief. They’re handing this stuff out like M&Ms.

As a nurse, ( 50 years, retired 2020) I can tell you that Fentanyl was rarely if ever given except by anesthesiologists because of its potential for respiratory arrest. It was considered a dangerous drug and had to be carefully monitored by a medical doctor. The fact that you were offered fentanyl for an orthopedic injury when RICE ( rest, ice, compression, elevation) and an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen would have been sufficient is VERY suspect to me. So smart to stand your ground! Prayers for you quick healing! 🙏 😇

Absolutely 💯
The only time I ever saw it used was in the OR!

Absolutely, and every vial was carefully accounted for. If the fentanyl count was off at the end of a shift, we had to look at every patient chart to rectify the discrepancy! We could not leave until it was found. Once I worked in an outpatient surgery center and we has an OR tech try to steal fentanyl. What a HUGE deal that became! The regulatory agencies decended from everywhere on our surgery center. Huge investigation. What a mess it was!

Carol, I was shocked!
They weren't even pretending it was a
"pain killer."
Just came right out & said FENTANYL!!!
I was AMAZED
because I'm an Anon & know that this is
an EPIDEMIC in our country.

BTW, I don't take ANY drugs EVER.
Not aspirin. Nada 😻🙏🏻

I'm healing beautifully. The boot rocks! 😹

As a young nurse I was taught the FIRST step in caring for a patient in pain was comfort measures such as repositioning a limb, the patient, elevate the head to reduce headache, apply cool or warm compresses, give a backrub or massage, have the patient take deep breaths, reduce anxiety etc. Often these comfort measures would eliminate the need for any medication. We were taught to provide less potent analgesics first and to use narcotics only after less potent drugs were tried. Today they go with the big guns first, IMO to shut the patient up, put them to sleep, less bother. Very sad to me. 😪
