If you can afford to, buy high end dog food. In the long run it will be cheaper than vet bills. Read the labels, some that were high end foods the companies have been bought out and the formula of the feed has been changed for more profit for the companies. Just because it's on the shelf at the vet doesn't mean it's good for your dog either, vets are making a profit from selling those to you, both with initial purchase and when your dog gets sick.

Son was feeding Purina for a long time, his dog was having seizures and did have cancer. Old school vet surgically removed the cancer from Lucky's ear, but she still was having seizures.
