Book written to the Roman Church, that would mean it was written post crucifixion, burial & resurrection. Jesus forgave from the cross. Also, it was the Jews that nailed him to a cross. Roman governor washed his hands of the situation when he saw the Jews simply wanted Jesus dead for no legal reason.

True, the soldier did. But Jesus was dead at that point. I have always believed this verse indicates who the murders were. And the temple had their own ‘enforcers’ so to speak.
