Living in the US, one of the things I miss about Britain, are the old buildings...
The town I live near now, was founded in 1968, and, it is an ugly town, it a looks temporary, and cheap, a shanty town of sheds.
I lived in a village called Moreton Pinkney for a while, in the converted smithy, ON the village green. The stone building was put up in 1648.
When you have lived in a building that has survived so many years, modern construction seems like smoke, no permanence at all.
The Bauhaus was the beginning of the end of anything beautiful in the construction industry.
Recently we watched some 'Grand Designs' episodes... we found so few of those projects appealing.
