It depends on the seeds they are planting. GMO's start in the seed, it's up to the farmer how much toxic stuff is sprayed on it.
Also have seen videos of some sellers at farmers markets buying the same produce the grocery stores are selling and selling at the farmers markets.
Only way to know 100% sure is to grow your own and have a seed company you can trust... and hope they aren't being swindled.

"Locally grown" doesn't guarantee that the produce isn't GMOs.
I live in an area that has a lot of farms, almost all of them use pesticides. I can pretty much guarantee that they are also producing GMOs on top of that.
