I think whom ever entered those military dates did so in REVERSE
They put the year in the day slot and the day in the year slot
As in today would be 26 MAR 23 (correct)
As opposed to 23 MAR 26 (incorrect)

DeSantis was a Lawyer in the JAG system and he was also a Navy Seal.
During peacetime, he had other Non-wartime duties to perform.
I know because I was an Air Commando in AF Special Ops but during peacetime I was also a transporter of the aircraft's precision measurement equipment (PME) as well as being the Base NBC Training Manager.
NBC - Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare.
His Military service was stellar and anyone who tries to dismiss it is ignorant and stupid.
