Carole Davis-Z @Tallyho
I was reading a piece yesterday on Factcheckbook, about the everlasting stew that was popular in the Medieval times, ie the pot was on the fire 24/7/365, and items were added as they came available, and food removed as needed.

As long as the food was kept at or above 140°.

Crockpots are somewhat like this idea.

The article stated that part of the tactic in WW1 was to destroy the troops stew pots, denying them this immediate food prep method.

This is what I thought of for 'pot'.
