ValHalla ... could mean ... "in the Hollow Earth". Val, in my opinion, means "Deep... Low" and Halla comes from "Hal"...an underground large space.
So I think they have a protected place inside the Hollow Earth... temporarily...

My thoughts are similar, Time traveler perhaps... I reflect on Ayn Rand's book and John (John) Gault who created a parallel comunity/existance/earth for the goodly while the corrupt world was still happening.
